Arriving in Guatemala City at 9:37 local time on flight #1123. The flight back home is the same time as you guys. Thanks a million for doing this. I guess the rest of us is staying put now since we can't meet up with you guys. Michelle turned sweet 16 yesterday. Had a great surprise party. Miss you guys. If you think of anything else that you need make sure you let us know before April 2nd because we will probably leave at supper time for Halifax. Love

Hi Bill

Please make sure Nicolle gets us the flight info for David, do not want to have to go back to Guate City the 2nd time...
All is well.

Note from Hawnalee:

Is Dick up and running as we have not heard anything except that his computer was down. We are sailing around the Virgins waiting for Ralph to show up on the 29th for a week. We have toured some of the Virgins so far and think it is great, much better than the Bahamas. It is not a big area but the sailing is great, sunny every day and winds east 15 kts, lots of anchorages. It reminds us a lot like the Bras D'ors, high hills and lots of places to anchor. We are here until the 20th of April and then off to Bermuda, the time sure passes quickly. Take care Peter & Anne. (Relayed/Posted by Bill F)

Send Dave with US dollars, Bank cards do not work here, but you can get advance on VISA card with passport for ident.

Please send flight # and times so we can arrange to come back down from Antigua for the flight arrival. We may have to overnight in Guate City and bus back the next day, it is a 5 hour bus ride to here.

Please send Benadryl capsules and some kind of topical antihistamine, the one we have been using is Fenistil jel (dimetindeni maleas 1 mg). Evan will know.

Dave only needs a backpack and only shorts and tees, a dress golf shirt, and one pair of long pants, no jeans.... the pants and shorts I wear have the net inside, and dry fast like a bathing suit.
Will contact again when we get to Antigua on Tuesday

Hi guys, Hope everything is well. I have been in Halifax all week on course and shopping of course. Yesterday we had a snow storm and heavy rain, pretty neat to be in a high rise with all glass. During the rain it was hard to hear the instructor at times. Evan says Summerside had 25 cm dumped on them. Have fun with Davie, I'll give him some reading material to bring you. Miss you both and see you soon.

Thank you so so much. You have no idea what this means to me and to Dave. I am going right now to pick up his ticket and I will let you know the exact flights and times. If there is anything you need taken with him please let us know. And also need to know what kind of money does he need down there. I know its not american money so does a bank card work or what. So also there is no need I guess for me to still try to get to Belize since we won't be able to see you guys. Thank You, Love
- Thursday, March 21, 2002 at 13:19:07 (EST)

To Nicolle
We will pick up dave at Guate City, we need air times and flight #. As for your going to Belize City, we will not be arriving there until the 23 rd or so,

- Thursday, March 21, 2002 at 12:26:19 (EST)

We will pick up David at Guate City airport, please send us the air times..

Will send again from the Rio in 2 days.

Perhaps you could try a well-set stern anchor if you're stuck without power.

Have a ticket for dave but it's not until April 3rd arriving in Gautemala City and is going back on your exact flights on April 25th from Belize City. I have to confirm by Thursday so please let me know if this will work out.I'm still trying to get tickets to arrive in belize City for the rest of us on April 14th and come back the same time as you guys. Thanks
- Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at 17:07:55 (EST)

Can't get a ticket to Belize City. She said there is no availability before April 5th. So I have her trying to get at least one ticket to Guatemala before the 2nd of April so Dave can catch up to ya's there if not we will still try for the April 13th date. I'll keep you posted this way as soon as I know something
- Monday, March 18, 2002 at 20:49:08 (EST)

Our tickets are for the 25th of Apr from Belize City. Mom wants to go home a week earlier than that. We will be going to Antigua on the 26th and return to Whitecap on the 2nd, we will stay there until we decide to head for home. It will take about 4 days to strip the boat down and cover her over for the summer months, it rains daily there and things turn green if they are constantly wet...

Your best bet is to come down after the exams and we can all travel home together somewhere around the 20th to 25th from belize city, That way you will have to forget about Antigua. The alternative is Guate City and Antigua, if you can get a room anywhere, (a big if) and you head home without us for exam time...

- Thursday, March 14, 2002 at 18:00:45 (EST)

That might be better but I was thinking that you were coming home before that. The travel agent is still trying to get the tickets. If i don't hear from her by Wednesday then I will see what else I can arrange. Check your email (hotmail I sent some info through there. Thanks, Love
- Monday, March 11, 2002 at 18:31:18 (EST)

To Nicolle... Would it not be better if you came to Guate City after the 13th and stay to fly out with us brom Belize City on the 20 something or other???? Our flight is for the 25th, then you would not have the pressure of gettting back for exams, and maybe the kids will do better knowing the trip is a prize????

Hi Mary and Dick,

I asked Cindy how the cats were and she replied, "lounging and enjoying the sun". Genny is doing great. The smelt shacks are leaving quickly, from 16 to 3 in 2wks. If Nicoles goes down Cindy will give her a bunch of magazines to bring. Cindy also thinks it could be the hard-drive and not the motherboard causing your problems.

Many thanks Bill, that is much better than replacing the whole computer, but I will have to find out if it is really the M Board.

Looks like if Nicolle comes down we may be going home around the 12th instead of the 25th. It would be useless for her to only come for a week down here. I think the 12th from Belize City would be better. See if she can understand that...

Hi Nicolle
We thinks you should stay until at least the 12th, as if you fly into Guate City, that is one day from home, 4 -5 days in Antigua, until Monday after Easter, then one day to bus back to the boat. It will take 5 days to strip her down for the summer, then 4 hrs to Tikal, overnight, then 5 hours to Belize City where we will have to overnight again before flying to Houston - Newark. Overnight there, and HFX the next day. From that you can figure out the # of days.

Hi Mom and Dad,
Weather is better, almost all the snow is gone and only seven out of sixteen smelt shacks remain. I'm sorry to tell you the catfish died, not sure if it was old age or feeding it tropical fish food. Not much here has changed except I'm going to the gym on regular basis, hope you notice a difference when you come home. See you both soon and be safe.

Hi, The trip plans look like they will be from March 26th - April 2nd or 3rd. Could you please let me know if those dates are good if not which ones are the best. It doesn't matter to me except that I can't stay for three weeks and if I take one of the kids it was less school missed on those dates. Let me know what is the best and easiest and then I will confirm with you my booked flights. Thanks
S'side, P.E. Canada - Sunday, March 03, 2002 at 09:19:08 (EST)

Weather here is very windy, and there are no boats moving around at least not into French Harbour. There is a large Cat at our old dock here, no flag that we can see, we are tied to the dinghy dock, no power or water, but with the wind the batteries are at 12.50. I will start the engine before we sack out tonight to get them up higher.

Hope everyone is having fun in the snow...

Your message got through yesterday, I transcribed it to the Home Page so everyone would see it, as I'm not sure everyone checks the Guest Book regularly for info on you. In any case, the Guest Book is mainly for people to send notes to you, so as you send any info here, I will continue to transcribe it to the main page. All is well here, a little milder today,,,lost quite a bit of snow, guess this is our annual "January" thaw?? I will check your mail boxes and do as you asked,,, about the mother board, what model is your Toshiba? Looks like Cheryl & I will not be traveling south this year as things are rapidly changing here. Daughter #2 (Angie) has decided to buy a house in Saint John, and on top of that (as if that's not enough) she's in the midst of making plans to get married.....that's right I said married!!!! Not much else happening around here so I'll TTYL.

A message on behalf of Captain Dick -

Just a brief note to say that everyone aboard Whitecap is
doing well. The crew have been swabbing decks, learning knots, making coffee (great priority), in preparation for the voyage. Well, maybe not swabbing decks, but the coffee part is true. Dick and Mary have been getting work done on their computer, which will hopefully be completed soon, and we will all be on our way from Livingston.

Best to all,

Signed, the Crew (Kaelin, Kendall and Erin)

This is the first time I've seen your site and its super!  Mom has told me of it and now that she has a computer she has sent me the address. I've enjoyed reading the captains log. I'm glad your living a sailors dream. You deserve it. I got a couple of addresses and intend to say hi to Cindy etc. We have 2 children now (4 and 6) and the four year old boy wants to windsurf this summer so he's learning to swim over the winter. Bye for now, good luck and sail safe.
